BRUCE LEE...THE FITTEST WARRIOR

BRUCE, WHEN HE FIRST ARRIVED IN AMERICA..HAD POOR TRAINING HABITS AND ATE WHATEVER HE WANTED....HE WAS GOING THROUGH A BIG ADJUSTMENT.... FROM AN OVER CROWED CITY TO THE HUGE OPENESS OF SEATTLE.....HE THOUGHT IN CHINESE...BUT HAD TO ALWAYS TALK IN ENGLISH...WHICH SOMETIMES CAUSED HIM TO STUTTER WHEN HE GOT EXCITED.....AND HIS PERSONAL LIFE WAS REDUCED TO GOING TO SCHOOL AND WAITING ON TABLES AND WASHING DISHES. IT TOOK HIM ALITTLE WHILE TO START ADJUSTING....BUT WHEN..... HE DID HE CHANGED RAPIDLY. HIS DREAMS OF GOING TO HOLLYWOOD AND BECOMING AN ASIAN SUPERSTAR TRIGGERED HIS MOTIVATION TO FOCUS ON CREATING AN EXCEPTIONAL...BRUCE LEE..OR THE "FITTEST WARRIOR" SOMEONE WHO WOULD STAND OUT IN ANY CROWD. SO BRUCE BEGAN TO ANALYZE WHAT HE NEEDED TO DO TO ACHIEVE HIS GOAL.....NOW BRUCE..JESSE GLOVER AND I HAD..AT THE SAME TIME..A PSYCHOLOGY CLASS THAT WAS TAUGHT BY A TEACHER WHO HAD BEEN A REAR GUNNER IN A BOMBIDIER THAT HAD BEEN SHOT DOWN DURING WORLD WAR 2....HE HAD BEEN BADLY BURNED AND STILL CARRIED THE SCARS ON HIS FACE. HE WAS THE ONE WHO GOT ME INTERESTED IN THE SCIENCE OF SELF HYPNOSIS...SINCE HE HAD USED IT FOR PAIN CONTOL. HE WAS A BIG BELIEVER IN THE MIND HAVING CONTROL OVER THE BODY... AND IT WAS BECAUSE OF OUR TALKS THAT WE SPENT A LOT OF TIME AFTER TRAINING....TRYING TO ORGANIZE TRAINING INTO TWO PARTS....MENTAL...AND PHYSICAL.....WE FELT THIS WAS IMPORTANT IN ORDER TO DEVELOP A WELL BALANCED ABILITY IN ALL OUR POTENTIAL...THE PHYSICAL WAS FAIRLY EASY...SINCE WE HAD SO MUCH MATERIAL TO DRAW FROM.....ADDED TO THAT WAS TRYING TO ACCESS TRAINING EQUIPMENT THAT WOULD CONTRIBUTE TO DEVELOPING OUR FULL SPEED AND POWER POTENTIAL....OTHER THAN STANDARD HEAVY BAGS AND WOODEN DUMMIES...WE WERE LIMITED...BECAUSE THERE WAS NO TECH EQUIPMENT....IT JUST DID NOT EXIST IT THOSE DAYS. THE ONLY TIMER WE HAD WAS ONE BORROWED FROM THE PHYSIOLOGY DEPARTMENT AT THE UW....THAT WAS SNUCK OUT BY ONE OF THE STUDENTS...BRUCE WOULD HAVE LOVED TO HAVE ACCESS TO THE MANY OPTIONS AVAILABLE TODAY...THAT NOT ONLY MEASURED SPEED AND POWER...BUT HOW MANY TIMES YOU PUNCHED OR KICKED IN A MEASURED TIME...ALTHOUGH WE SPENT A LOT OF TIME ON PHYSICAL DRILLS....WE ALSO SPENT A LOT OF TIME...OUTSIDE REGULAR TRAINING.....TALKING ABOUT THE MIND... AND HOW TO USE IT IN TRAINING. WE DECIDED THAT OF ALL THE THINGS THE MIND HAD TO OFFER......THE ONE THING THAT STOOD OUT..WAS ATTITUDE......OR HOW ONE THOUGHT OF THEMSELVES...WE AGREED THAT...NO MATTER HOW GOOD YOU WERE AT TECHNIQUE...IF YOU LACKED PERSONAL CONFIDENCE...THEN YOUR TRAINING WOULD NEVER BE COMPLETE.. BECAUSE IN A CONFLICT.... YOU WOULD PROBABLY HESITATE ...WHEN YOU SHOULD ATTACK...AND YOU WOULD NOT PROJECT STRENGTH.....BUT WEAKNESS..AND YOUR LACK OF CONFIDENCE WOULD BE FELT BY OTHER STUDENTS...AND THEREFORE AFFECT YOUR TRAINING.....SO...THE GENERAL CONSENSUS...WAS TO BECOME THE "FITTEST WARRIOR".....YOU NEEDED TO FOLLOW THREE STEPS...FOR PHYSICAL SKILL....YOU NEEDED A DEFINED TRAINING SCHEDULE AND ACCESS TO THE LATEST EQUIPMENT TO GAUGE YOUR GROWTH... ...FOR THE BODY..YOU NEEDED A BALANCED NUTRIONAL PROGRAM... AND FOR THE MIND....YOU NEEDED TO SECURE A PERSONAL PROGRAM TO ACHIEVE A SOARING ATTITUDE OF SELF CONFIDENCE...NOT ONLY IN MARTIAL ARTS...BUT IN YOUR OVERALL PERCEPTION OF YOURSELF. BY HAVING THIS HIGH LEVEL OF SELF CONFIDENCE...YOU WOULD NOT ONLY BE READY FOR ANY PHYSICAL THREAT.....BUT READY TO FIGHT THE MANY EMOTIONAL BATTLES OF EVERYDAY LIFE......DEMILE DEFENSIVE TACTICS OFFERS PROGRAMS IN EACH OF THESE STEPS...AS WELL AS ANY SUPPORT...IN YOUR EFFORTS TO BECOME THE "FITTEST WARRIOR".
